The methodology behind my personal styling services

A practical, considered approach to menswear, built around how you actually live.

The Framework

The standard process starts with an initial face-to-face meeting to understand exactly what you need. After that, we build the solution together. We navigate the shopping and handle any necessary alterations together, ensuring every piece feels completely natural to wear. This is a one-to-one, collaborative service designed to eliminate decision fatigue, protect your peace of mind, and introduce executive-function and productivity strategies you can take far beyond your wardrobe.

This framework scales to your exact requirements—from finding a single, highly specific outfit to a complete, ground-up wardrobe.

Meeting in person in Manchester is recommended for greatest efficacy, though remote options are available.

My rate starts at £60 per hour, plus expenses.

Gender Inclusivity Statement

My style expertise is strictly focused on menswear. However, my services are open to everyone. Whether you are a cisgender man, or a person of more diverse identity, if functional menswear is what you are looking for, you are welcome here.

It's less about adhering to rules and trends, and more about understanding the challenges of getting dressed and creating a better approach.

Origin

I did not become a stylist because getting dressed was effortless for me. I built this service because, for a long time, getting dressed was a profound, daily struggle.

Since the early noughties, I have engaged in an intensive process of study, iteration, and analysis to master the art and craft of men’s style. But the underlying engine for that obsession was not vanity. It was a coping mechanism. I was dressing to counter severe body dysmorphia, incredibly low self-esteem, and the invisible stress of neurodiversity and depression.

I was entirely unhappy with the presentation I was giving to the world, so I engineered a mechanical solution to change it. Clothing became my structural armour.

Foundation

My background is not rooted in the traditional fashion industry. My early years were spent in manual labour, which built a foundation of physical resilience, while my subsequent sobriety brought absolute clarity. Today, alongside styling, my time is dedicated to developing and refining productivity strategies, advanced powerlifting, and independent research in the philosophy of life, transfinite mathematics, and theoretical physics.

This analytical, interdisciplinary mindset dictates exactly how I approach menswear: not as an arbitrary art form, but as a mechanical system that can be solved for distinct purposes. Through years of trial and error, I developed a highly refined framework to manage my own cognitive load, physical discomfort, and sensory friction, ultimately reclaiming the executive function required to be highly productive.

Proposition

What I eventually realised is that this coping mechanism is a highly transferable skill. The systems I engineered to help myself navigate the world with less friction—from automating my clothing choices, to making contingencies for bad days, to optimising the dressing space—can be adapted to help you do the same.

The traditional styling industry is full of people dictating arbitrary rules and selling a singular, exhausting version of success. I am not interested in doing that.

I approach this work from the perspective of someone who struggles. I have lived with these challenges; I built a framework that helped me struggle less, and I am offering it to you. I will not force a uniform on you. But whether your daily routine is hampered by executive dysfunction and poor body image, or simply the sheer, exhausting weight of deciding what to wear before a high-stakes meeting, this system might be exactly what you need.

Engineering the friction out of your wardrobe is a necessary step on the path to an easier, streamlined, more productive life.

“Rupert, the man behind The Accessible Stylist, has been my go-to provider of sartorial advice for what seems like eons. Several times he has talked me into buying items I never thought I’d wear – a field jacket, a shawl collar cardigan, silk pocket squares, for instance – and each time I’ve become devoted to my new possessions to the extent I can barely recall not wanting them. Come to a session with The Accessible Stylist and your wardrobe will surely benefit.”

“I consulted The Accessible Stylist when I wanted to invest in a new coat after years of just wearing what I found second hand or inherited from friends. I would heartily recommend the service. It was really thorough, with plenty of helpful advice and even an extended WhatsApp consultation while I was trying the coats on in the shop. Invaluable.”

“Rupert provided a fantastic service in the run-up to my wedding. I didn't really know what I was doing but he made suit shopping quick and easy, taking me through the different styles and fabrics based on the sort of thing I wanted. He knew exactly what would go together and where to find the different elements, and I looked smarter than I ever have in my life on the big day. 100% recommend”
